THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN PUTTING ON A SPIRITUAL AND INTELLECTUAL NURTURE FORUM AT STONY RUN MEETING

Scheduling

Call the clerk of the Spiritual and Intellectual Nurture Committee to make your proposal and ask about available dates. The clerk will ask for consideration by the SINC committee and get back to you as soon as possible. See the SINC Mission Statement for the purpose, priorities and process for selection of forums.

Publicity

SINC, usually the clerk, and the Executive Secretary see that notices of upcoming forums are placed in the newsletter and First Day announcements. It is helpful to have the final title and names of presenters in order to post these notices. Any other publicity, including the flyers placed on the rostrum outside the Meeting Room, are the responsibility of the presenters.

Food

SINC provides coffee, tea and bagels at every forum. If you intend to provide the hospitality yourself, please notify SINC when signing up for your forum. Click here for SINC Breakfast Set-up.

Audio Visual Aid Requirements

If you will need any aids to your presentation that the Meeting has on the premises please notify the Clerk of SINC the week before the presentation.

Morning of the Forum

It is helpful if you arrive before the coffee time begins at 9 am or earlier. The committee will help you to organize the chairs, tables and AV equipment as needed for your special needs. All forums are held in the Stony Run dining room (downstairs) unless other arrangements have been made.

Introductions

This can be done by someone from SINC or someone from your committee/group. It should be decided who will make the introductions when the forum is being planned and the SINC clerk notified in advance of the forum.

Timing

The one who introduces the topic and speaker should also be responsible for timing. The time available for the forums is short so it is extremely important that the forums begin and end in a timely way. The time to begin is as close to 9:15 as people can settle into their seats. It is ok to give them a two minute warning and then begin. The forums end at 10:30 and should NEVER go beyond 10:40! This is to assure that participants have time to visit, assist with children, and get spiritually prepared for Meeting for Worship at 11 am. Please do not run over this time. It is the tradition for all forums to begin and end with Silent Worship.
